Wolves (Grades 4–8)

Leadership, Challenge, and Growing Independence

Our Wolves program is designed for students who are ready for greater independence, deeper academic exploration, increased responsibility, and meaningful leadership opportunities.

You may notice that our Wolves and Owls programs overlap with some Grade 4 and 5 students. This is intentional. During these years, children develop at different rates socially, emotionally, academically, and personally. Some students thrive within the Owls environment, while others are ready for the increased independence and challenges offered within the Wolves program.

Rather than grouping students solely by age, we thoughtfully consider the whole child to ensure they are learning within the environment that best supports their growth and development.

Learning With Purpose

As students move into the Wolves years, they are encouraged to become increasingly independent learners, critical thinkers, problem-solvers, and leaders.

Students continue building strong foundations in:

Literacy and communication
Mathematics and problem solving
Science and social studies
Research and inquiry
Executive functioning and organization
Leadership and collaboration

Academic expectations increase while maintaining the individualized support, relationships, and holistic approach that define The Owl's Nest.

Leadership, Community, and Real-World Learning

The Wolves years are often when students begin discovering who they are and how they can contribute to the world around them.

Students regularly participate in:

Community projects
Leadership opportunities
Entrepreneurship experiences
Environmental stewardship
Agriculture and land-based learning
Mentorship opportunities
Public speaking and presentations
Experiential and project-based learning

We believe students learn best when their education feels relevant, meaningful, and connected to real life.

Preparing for What's Next

Our goal is not simply to prepare students for the next grade. We aim to help them develop the confidence, adaptability, resilience, and learning skills they will need throughout their lives.

As students move through the Wolves program, they are given increasing opportunities to take ownership of their learning, advocate for themselves, and contribute meaningfully to their community.

Ravens (Future Program Development)

Exploring New Possibilities for Grades 7–10

As The Owl's Nest continues to grow, we are exploring the development of Ravens; a program designed to support students in Grades 7–10 through a more flexible, hybrid, and experiential learning model.

While this program is still in the planning and development stages, the vision is emerging in response to the needs we continue to hear from families, particularly homeschoolers and families seeking alternatives to traditional high school pathways.

Many families tell us that as students enter their teenage years, academics become more specialized, learning needs become more individualized, and students benefit from increased mentorship, real-world experiences, and support navigating future pathways.

Our vision for Ravens includes:

While we cannot yet guarantee what Ravens will ultimately become, we are excited by the possibilities and remain committed to exploring innovative ways to support learners as they move into adolescence and beyond.
