We are currently hiring for:

Supply Teachers/Educators Starting September 2023-Occasional from Preschool to Grade 8: Ideally we are searching for strong Teachers and Educators (OCT/ECE) that are confident, engaging and multi-faceted. With low ratios (currently 10:1 average; the ideal candidates have great communication skills, flexibility and the ability to be flexible and learn quickly in our alternative school. The ideal candidates are incredible at following Educator set plans  and adapting as necessary. The candidates are skilled at setting boundaries and expectations and supporting students. The ideal candidates are fluent in the zones of regulation and minds up curriculum . The ideal candidates can be reached in the morning to start the same day, are capable of maintaining a week of supply teaching at a time (we have 2, 1 week time slots where we require a supply educator). This is an occasional teacher position starting September-June 2024. Working for The Owl's Nest: At The Owl's Nest, we strive to change the pathway for our Educators, as much as we do for our students. We are a not for profit school and work diligently to retain longevity in our Supply Staff for our School. With this, it is important that we support our supply staff financially, mentally, physically and personally. As a supply educator, staff can expect:

-Support in learning as they transition in 

-Financial compensation is well above comparable Private Schools wages. Depending on education and experience, Supply Educators earn between $18-$25 hourly 

-Supply educators have integrated planning times and breaks worked into their days without any time deductions. Currently staff are scheduled for 7.25 hours daily and 5.25 hours of that are active teaching, 2 hours are prep, planning, clean up and break-paid. This is a great time to get support in learning, getting to know the space, and prepare for the role.

-Reduced tuition rates for children attending The Owl's Nest camps or School

-Opportunities to teach on PD days and have their own children attend FREE of charge on PD days 

-Potential for room to grow and become integrated into other aspects of the School (leadership roles, supporting if we open new locations, etc..)

-The benefits of being in nature all day, everyday


For our FULL Time Staff:  CURRENTLY NOT hiring for the 2023-2024 School Year

Working for The Owl's Nest: At The Owl's Nest, we strive to change the pathway for our Educators, as much as we do for our students. We are a not for profit school and work diligently to retain longevity in both staff and students to support all involved in our School. With this, it is important that we support our staff financially, mentally, physically and personally. As a full time educator in a permanent position, staff can expect:

-Support in learning as they transition in (job shadowing, extra training, and co-teaching opportunities)

-Financial compensation well above comparable Private Schools wages. Depending on education and experience, Permanent Educators earn between $18-$32 hourly (with a goal of moving full time staff to salary and increasing wages as we grow and experience student growth and retention)

-Educators have integrated planning times and breaks worked into their days without any time deductions. Currently staff are scheduled for 7.25 hours daily and 5.25 hours of that are active teaching, 2 hours are prep, planning, clean up and break-paid.

-Paid Professional Development days are worked into the School Year and tailored to the needs of teachers. 

-Reduced tuition rates for children attending The Owl's Nest School or Camps

-Free childcare/camp on PD days

-Optional shared benefits plan after 3 months of working (which includes dental, holistic aspects such as massage, chiropractic, naturopath, and more)

-A goal of adding retirement savings as the school grows 

-Options to work 3 days/week in the summer with camps or take the summer off
